Board Games
Mission Catastrophe is a sci-fi adventure game that successfully launched on Kickstarter in November 2020, raising $100,299. As the sole graphic designer for this game, I created various player cards, game boards, box art, game tokens, and more.
This project was my first big independent dive into the world of graphic design in board games, and it was a quite the learning experience. I worked with multiple illustrators and printers, a fast-paced schedule, and constantly evolving content as the game was developed.
Connecting Flights
This game launched on Kickstarter in April 2021, and was successfully funded on Day 1. As a graphic designer on this project, I worked on the design for the cards, boards, and iconography used throughout the game.
Nanolith
Nanolith is a cyberpunk-themed board game that launched on Kickstarter in August 2022 and was funded in 45 minutes. I was the sole graphic designer for this massive game that includes an 80-page Encounter book, 100 page Storybook, over 180 cards, and many other boards and components. This game was a lot of fun to work on because of the rich art and story that I was able to draw upon when creating the pieces.
Gatefall Cards
I designed these cards for Gatefall: Lost in the North Woods, an expansion to the strategic miniature game Gatefall. This project required me to work with game play-testers as they made edits to the characters ability scores during the play-testing process. I created color schemes based on illustrator-provided art pieces, chose fonts, and made other layout-related decisions for the design of the cards.
The Lost Worlds of Josh Kirby
As part of the Kickstarter campaign for The Lost Worlds of Josh Kirby board game, I designed an art/puzzle/story combination book that was given to backers at a certain tier. I had to use art and other elements from the design of the game, create unique designs for puzzles, and overall give the book a look that was visually tied to the board game while still remaining a special and enjoyable experience. Putting a sci-fi spin and Josh Kirby look/feel to the puzzles was an interesting but fun challenge!
Public Market
Public Market was a project I came in late in the game on - the Kickstarter had already successfully wrapped, and the remaining work was to prepare the files for print and clean up some rough areas of design. This was my first experience with preparing design files for punchboards and it taught me quite a bit about how to get a game ready to send off for mass production.
